Thanks From Valerie
Dear KASFAA Friends:
It is a week later and I still find myself getting emotional thinking about receiving the Meritorious Achievement Award at the awards banquet Thursday night. I wanted to take a minute to say "Thank you," just one more time.
Part of my job description, as a Customer Relations Manager is to support my state associations. Working with such a great group of people is trul a pleasure and makes my job so easy. Over the last year, I have gotten many complaints from my husband about my time spent away from home. "Can't someone else do that?" or "Why is it always YOU?" However, Thursday night, after I got home from the conference, I flipped on the lights in our bedroom, jumped on the bed to wake him up and said, "SEE! They do appreciate me!"
To the person who nominated me, you know who you are...Thanks, for believing in me. I am where I am because of you. You have taught me to understand the true meaning of customer service and have showed me how to lead with determination and understanding without being overbearing. I could go on and on about how much I care and cherish you, but you already know that.
To the board and the association...Thanks for letting me be me. Being a part of this association means more to me than you will ever know. You are my co-workers, colleagues, but most of all my friends. You know, as people leave our association the resounding theme is always, "I'll miss my friends in KASFAA." It couldn't be more true...but you all are stuck with me for a long, long time.
All I can say is get involved. There is always something to do, or something to organize no matter what committee you may serve on. For newcomers - it's a great way to meet people in the association. For us that have been around awhile...it's our way to stay in touch and support something we really believe in...the importance of an education...and helping the students of Kansas...one student at a time.
