Butler County Community College
Steve Johnson has been hired as Financial Aid Counselor in the Andover Office. He began September 15, 2003. Steve was a student employee with Butler for 2 years before he transferred to KSU. At KSU, he worked in the Office of Student Financial Aid for 3 years before graduating in May 2003.
Heather Ward had a baby boy last December 2002.
Wichita Area Technical College
LaVerne Schomidt has joined the financial aid team as Assistant Financial Aid Officer, bringing with him 8 1/2 years of financial aid experience from North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, KS.
Pratt Community College
Richard Sandstrom is the proud father of Katharina Hope Sandstrom born September 14, 2003 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She weighed in at 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. She has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes.

Matt Staples and his wife Denise, welcomed a new baby daughter on August 18th. Her name is Moriah Berith Staples and she weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long.

Nick Prewitt joined KU as a Scholarship & Financial Aid Specialist on October 13, 2003. Nick has a master's degree in political science from KU. Nick has served in a variety of positions, including Human Resources Assistant, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Operations Fleet Manager for a large transportation company.
Elizabeth Mendoza joined KU as a Financial Aid Counselor on October 20, 2003. Elizabeth received her bachelor's degree in Theatre & Film from KU. Elizabeth's previous work experience includes employment with Sallie Mae, the Federal Student Aid Information Center, Premier Capitol, and KU libraries.
Congraulations to Mandy Peterson! Each year, the KU Office of Student Success awards an outstanding young professional a stipend to attend the NASPA IV-W New Professionals Institute and the NASPA IV-W Conference. Mandy was selected this year. Have a great time in New Mexico, Mandy!

Wendy Tangney welcomed a new baby daughter on April 16th. Her name is Carsyn Gwen and she weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. She has blue eyes and blonde hair.
Cheryl Schinze has been hired as Financial Aid Administrator. Cheryl previously worked in the financial aid office at KU. Her first day was May 1.
Tennille McCormick has been hired as Data Coordinator for the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Sarah Butler has been hired as a Student Loan Assistant. Her first day was July 31. She had previously been in the Internet Banking Department for over two years. She graduated from Emporia State University in 2001.

Wilma Kasnic has a new granddaughter. Piper Layne Kasnic was born on July 4th.
Wichita State University
Katrina Walker was hired as Senior Administrative Assistant in July.
Debbie Ternes was hired as Senior Administrative Assistant in October.
Sheelu Surender graduated with her M.B.A. in May from WSU.
Laurie Funk was recently hired. She comes to US Bank with eleven years student loan experience from working at Sallie Mae.
Rolf Julius von Merveldt III (RJ) joined the financial aid staff as a counselor on October 20, 2003. He is replacing Mona Drouhard.
Paula Lamprecht joined the financial aid staff on November 3, 2003. She will be replacing Craig Dassow.
Manhattan Christian College
Aaron Lauber has joined the financial aid office. Ten years ago, he worked as a student in the financial aid office at Baker University. He's been teaching since then and has decided to switch to student personnel services. He replaces Colleen Lindgren.
